Who is this course for?
This course is a fantastic opportunity for learners, who have already achieved their Level 2 City and Guilds Dog Grooming Assistant qualification, to become a fully qualified dog groomer. This allows you to work within a salon as a professional stylist, a salon manager or even run your own salon.
Completed in a commercial salon, within a small personal class of 4 students, creating a more personalised experience.
Both theory and practical sessions will be held onsite with the lecturer.
Entry Requirements
- Maths and English grades D/3 or above.
- Level 2 City and Guilds Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants (7763-02 or 7863-02) at grade MERIT for Practical AND Theory exams.
- Must have a current work placement or volunteer in a salon, for a minimum of 1 day a week.
What will you learn?
Here are some of the things you will learn on this course:
- How to complete breed standard trims. E.g. Cocker Spaniels, Schnauzers.
- How to handstrip effectively and correctly
- Legislation
- Canine Health and Anatomy
- Requirements of owning a salon
- Canine First Aid
How will you learn?
You will have both practical assessments and a written exam.
The written exam is completed on a set date, that is decided by City and Guilds.
The practical assessments are completed on Broomfield Hall site in the dog grooming salon. These will be assessed by your lecturer.
What will you need to bring with you?
You will be expected to provide your own set of scissors for the course. You should at least have a set of:
- Thinners
- Straights
- Bullnose
- Curves
You will also be expected to provide your own tunic for the course.
How will you be assessed?
You will have both practical assessments and a written exam.
The written exam is completed on a set date, that is decided by City and Guilds.
