This diploma enables you to develop practical skills and knowledge of working within the agriculture industry.

Course Information for Students
Who is this course for?
School leavers, and learners who have completed a Level 1 in Land Based Studies in Agriculture and Horticulture.
Entry Requirements
3 GCSEs at a grade 3 or above, including English and Maths.
OR
A Level 1 Diploma at a Merit or above.
You will need to be highly motivated and demonstrate a keen interest in agriculture.
You will have an interview and parents and carers are welcome to attend the interview.
What will you learn?
This course will include:
- Tutorial
- Work Experience – 150 hours total
- Environmental and Land Based Business
- Introduction to Farm Animal Production
- Introduction to Land Based Machinery
- Assist with agricultural habitat management
- Participate in providing estate maintenance
You will also work towards GCSEs in English and Maths (if you do not have these at GCSE grade C/4 or above).
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on-site at Broomfield Hall and is a practical, hands-on programme.
What will you need to bring with you?
You will be required to supply your own:
• Steel toe-capped boots or wellingtons
• Derby College Group overalls (these will be available to purchase at enrolment)
• Derby College Group uniform
• Outdoor clothing
• Gloves
• Writing materials
How will you be assessed?
You will be assessed via practical assessments, witness statements, workbooks and written assignments.
You will also take English and Maths examinations, if applicable.

- Level 3 Agriculture
- Apprenticeship in Agriculture
- Advancement of your career in the agricultural industry.
