Who is this course for?
Your AAT journey starts here at Derby College Group – and, with this award, there is no need for any prior accounting knowledge. The qualification will give you a solid background in single entry bookkeeping.
This is a basic entry-level qualification and can provide a solid grounding for students with no previous bookkeeping knowledge or experience, before they move on to the foundation-level qualifications.
You can study the Access Award in Bookkeeping as a short course or as part of a series of courses. These courses can be studied back-to-back over a year or alternatively you can take individual courses based on what you want.

Skills and Education Group https://www.skillsandeducationgroup.co.uk/foundation/ also provides grants which are designed to help overcome social barriers and allow those who wish to study to advance their skills in education.
Entry Requirements
You must have a minimum of Level 1 English and Level 1 Maths
What will you learn?
Access to Bookkeeping introduces the role of a bookkeeper and simple bookkeeping techniques.
Learning outcomes are:
- Understanding the role of the bookkeeper
- Understanding financial transactions
- Processing customer and supplier transactions
- Processing receipts and payments
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered face to face on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
As part of your AAT course, you will need to purchase resource/text books to aid your revision.
Adult funding is available (subject to eligibility).
The cost is £526 (AAT fee/membership and the cost for the first exams is included).

You will be assessed using computer-based assessments, which are exams taken on computers or laptops.

AAT qualifications are recognised by employers as practical and technical qualifications that prepare students for the world of work and specifically for accountancy and finance roles.
The Access Award in Bookkeeping can lead to employment as a:
