Course Information for Students

The purpose of the learning and skills assessor occupation is to assess candidates against agreed standards of competence using a range of assessment methods. The learning and skills assessor will plan, conduct assessment activities and report on assessment decisions. They will support the progression of the learner through feedback of assessment decisions, setting of ongoing realistic learning goals and referral to other professionals if required.

The apprenticeship is made up of nine core modules, with knowledge, skills and behaviours relating to each module. By completing these modules, the apprentice will learn about:

Module One – Inclusive Assessment Planning

Module Two – Communication

Module Three – Quality Assurance and Standardisation

Module Four – Assessment Records

Module Five – Managing progress and achievement

Module Six – Information, Advice and Guidance

Module Seven – Holistic Assessment

Module Eight – Sustainability in Assessment

Module Nine – Continuous Professional Development and Occupational Competency.
