Course Information for Students

This one-day workshop will help intermediate Microsoft Excel users to advance their skills. You’ll learn how to use some of Excel’s more powerful features so that you can complete your work more effectively and quickly. 

You must have some basic knowledge about Excel.

Course content 

Working with Functions

  • Understanding cell addressing
  • Mathematical and Statistical functions: COUNTIF, COUNTIFS, SUMIF, SUMIFS, AVERAGEIF, AVERAGEIFS, GROUPBY, and PIVOTBY

Conditional Formatting

  • Pre-set conditional formatting rules
  • Data bars, colour scales and icon sets
  • Creating your own rules
  • Using conditional formatting with check boxes

Data Validation

  • Building data validation rules
  • Creating drop-down lists
  • Using information messages
  • Working with warning messages

PivotTables

  • Working with data sets
  • Building PivotTables
  • Formatting PivotTables
  • Working with slicers and timelines
  • Auto updating PivotTables

Data Analysis

  • Recap on chart basics
  • Creating combination KPI charts
  • Building Gantt charts
  • Working with Sparklines
