Who is this course for?
This module develops the key skills needed to achieve British Horse Society (BHS) standards and to enable confident industry working. It covers a range of aspects of working in the yard which may include – but are not limited to – understanding the principles of managing an equestrian business, supervising and managing staff, and utilising facilities. The module will encourage learners to work as a senior member of staff on the yard, demonstrating safe and efficient working practices incorporating industry standards as outlined in the BHS Horse Management and Care syllabus.
Entry Requirements
You need an interest in working on a yard and should be aged 18 years+.
What will you learn?
- Demonstrate management of staff and the equine facilities, as well as safe management of riding resources, and horse transportation.
- Demonstrate safe practice on the yard and when handling horses.
- Demonstrate appreciation for care and welfare of horses.
The module develops and allows you to expand on your practical skills, develops your supervisory skills and allows you to practise your management skills.
