Course Information for Students

This Level 2 qualification is designed for new entrants to the industry, providing them with the basic skills and experience they need to pursue a rewarding career in electrical installation.

You need to undertake and pass an interview and aptitude test.  You will also require three GCSEs at grade 4 in Maths, English and ideally a science or technical subject.

You will cover practical skills including conduit bending, wiring techniques and installation of components in the workshop. The following theory units will be undertaken:

  • Principles of Electrical Science
  • Electrical Installations Technology
  • Health and Safety within Building Services Engineering

You will learn on-site

Students will be required to purchase three polo shirts, a pair of boots and trouser overalls. They are also advised to purchase a course book for revision. It is recommended that learners purchase some tools to assist them in completing the practical elements of the course.

Candidates will be assessed via an end of unit theory or practical exam.

Further study
You can progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation.
