Apprentice Catering Assistant

NOTTINGHAM DIOCESAN YOUTH SERVICE TRUSTEES

-Based in a busy kitchen. -Serving up to 100 meals a day. -The role is to support the Catering Manager, in the day to day running of the kitchen. Tasks include: -Cooking breakfast -Cooking Lunch -Cooking Evening Meals -Baking cakes -Making Sunday dinner and a range of other meals -Washing up -Cleaning up and setting tables

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Maintain excellent standards of personal, food and kitchen hygiene
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, menu specifications and recipes
  • Produce food meeting portion controls and budgetary constraints
  • Adapt and produce dishes to meet special dietary, religious and allergenic requirements
  • Use specialist kitchen equipment
  • Communicate internally and externally with customers and colleagues

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Production Chef level 2 
  • One day at DCG and the other time is at the work place. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once qualified it is hoped there will be a position for you at The Briars

Things to consider

-You will be require to complete a DBS -Please note the location as public transport is limited -Holiday entitlement -Most work is term time only -Relaxed, informal allowed to be yourself at work -Uniform is provided -Shifts of up to 7.5 hours between 7am and 8pm

About the employer

We offer outreach residential youth centre for the Catholic Diocese of Nottingham, working with 11-18 year olds visiting. As a residential centre we serve breakfast, lunch and evening meal family service style. It is a thriving environment to work where days are never boring.
