Engineering at Derby College

Based at the stunning Roundhouse campus, the Derby College Engineering Academy provides up-to-date facilities, including the latest scientific and mechanical equipment.

You can test your skills in our materials and electronics labs, try rapid prototyping and robotics in our computer integrated manufacturing centre and get to grips with CAD (computer aided design software) in the impressive engineering suite.

The Engineering Academy has extensive partnerships with blue-chip engineering and manufacturing companies and works closely with employers ranging from Rolls-Royce to Bombardier, Thorntons to

Pirelli. This opens doors to work experience and job opportunities for our students.

Some higher level engineering courses have recognition from leading professional associations such as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, giving extra credibility to the qualifications you gain.

Tasleem Ramzan in the engineering suiteEver since I was young I have had a thing about aeroplanes and at first I wanted to work in air traffic control but then realised it would be much better to work hands on with the engines. Coming to College to study engineering is the first step on this road and I my ultimate aim is of course to work at Rolls-Royce.

My family have been quite understanding about me wanting a job in engineering and I find that it is all I talk about to my dad now."
