There are around two million people employed in catering and hospitality across the UK.

In Derbyshire alone, 5.9 per cent of people in jobs actually work in a hotel or restaurant - and the sector keeps on growing, thanks partly to the popularity of our county as a tourist destination.

Catering and Hospitality is a young, buzzing and dynamic industry. Almost a third of the sector's employees in the UK are under 25-years-old.

Catering and hospitality is an industry that rewards hard work and ambition. With some qualifications under your belt, you can prove you have what it takes to progress quickly in your career.

Catering and Hospitality courses

With so many routes for you to follow, a Derby College course can help you select the best options to reflect your skills and interests.

It makes sense to gain a broad range of skills to keep pace with latest developments in the sector. Employers have reported a growing demand for staff with customer service skills and knowledge of food hygiene.

There is also a shortage of well-qualified and experienced chefs and managers in the industry.

The variety of Derby College courses in catering and hospitality will help you build up a portfolio of qualifications at different levels and in different specialist areas.

Courses range from Level 1 to Level 3, with options in professional cookery, professional service and hospitality available.

We also have a range of catering and hospitality apprenticeships. These enable you to earn while you're learning and gain recognised qualifications as you work. Some of the top chefs started out as apprentices, including Jamie Oliver.
