Careers in the care industry
Health and social care is one of the biggest sectors in the UK and offers an enormous array of career paths. Whatever route you choose to follow, you can be assured that you are helping people to live happier and healthier lives.
In the East Midlands alone, there are around 230,000 health and social care employees - about 12 per cent of the entire workforce for the region. They can be found in workplaces ranging from hospitals and doctor's practices to dental surgeries and residential homes.
Healthcare is such a vital part of our society that there will always be jobs on offer for people with the right skills and qualifications. In our region, it is estimated that around 6,000 staff retire from the sector every year, meaning that employment opportunities arise constantly.
Working with with children and young people is equally rewarding and enjoyable. Whether you are employed in a nursery, school or other educational setting, every day is different and you will play a crucial part in shaping the lives of future generations.
