Meeting our Net Zero Target
Derby College Group (DCG) is committed to achieving its net zero carbon target by 2050 and to playing an active role in tackling climate change. To monitor progress towards net zero, DCG uses a range of reports, frameworks, and planning tools.
Since 2023, DCG has aligned its approach with the AoC and EAUC Further Education Climate Action Roadmap, which provides guidance on the actions further education colleges should take in response to the climate emergency. In addition, and in line with Department for Education requirements, DCG has developed a Climate Action Plan, which was produced in partnership with Let’s Go Zero and sets out the steps being taken to become a more sustainable organisation.
In 2026, DCG commissioned its first organisational carbon emissions report, covering the 2024/25 academic year. Undertaken by Positive Planet, the report identified an estimated carbon footprint of 6,465.32 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e). Following this baseline assessment, Positive Planet supported DCG in developing a Carbon Reduction Plan, outlining practical long-term actions to reduce emissions across its operations.
Together, these strategies and plans demonstrate DCG’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. They are published on this website as part of DCG’s ongoing journey towards net zero and can be viewed below.
