Former Business student sets up international business
Entrepreneurial former business student Joanna Kyaing has set up her own lifestyle and fitness business in Myanmar, Asia – utilising the skills she developed on the Business course at DCG.
After leaving College Joanna worked at an internationally recognised school in Myanmar. Then, determined to start a business, she launched her own healthy comfort food range, SNUG.
Joanna is now CEO of FORM Company Limited, a lifestyle brand in Yangon, which she co-founded with fiancé and fellow student Alex Watts, who was on her course at the Roundhouse.
Joanna said that she found marketing to be the most inspiring and creative element of her study programme.
She added that being at College also taught her how best to structure her day, allowing tasks to be completed with a target in mind so her time is organised efficiently.
Myanmar, suffered “crippling anxiety” when taking her GCSEs and much preferred the way her DCG course was structured.
She said: “Having my final grade determined by how hard I worked on my coursework was a huge advantage for me as I was very self-motivated.
It suited the path I wanted to go down later in life. It gave me a good base and understanding of business and I enjoyed the flexible learning.”
She added: “I would recommend my course to people who are self-motivated. The course/experience is what you make of it.
Life is all about learning so doing such a broad range of business modules in the Level 3 BTEC is a good way to start.”
