HE Student Further Guidance

Dear Access to HE students

We have today received further guidance regarding the arrangements for completion of your Access to HE course. Below are the key points that you should read in conjunction with the full guidance from the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA)

Derby College Group Easter Break Update

Derby College’s teaching moved online from Friday March 20 and Broomfield Hall has continued to support students whose parents are key workers or who are vulnerable.

Ofqual has set out details for schools, colleges, students, parents & carers on how GCSEs and A levels will be awarded following the cancellation of this year's exams.

We are still awaiting information from our vocational awarding body.

Derby College Group (DCG) is launching a new higher education study programme in partnership with The Open University which is designed to better prepare creative practitioners for the world of work.

Derbshire County Council is doing a large scale recruitment for care workers and children’s workers. These roles are flexible with short and long term contracts.

Communication to Students

Following the government announcement to close schools and colleges, we are awaiting further information regarding how some qualifications will be graded. There has been initial information shared about A Levels and GCSE suggestions and the vocational courses will follow shortly

School Pupils Complete Construction Skills Challenges

Pupils from local schools competed in Derby College Group’s annual Schools Skillbuild competition held at DCG’s Construction Academy at the Roundhouse Technical and Professional Skills college.

Representatives from a wide range of companies organised hands on activities for female students from Derby College Group and city secondary schools to raise awareness of the career opportunities available in science, digital technology, engineering and construction.

Pilot Programme Hailed Success

The first group of students at Derby College Group have graduated from a special programme designed to help them cope with the pressures of working life.

New Employer Academy Addresses Future Skills Shortages

A leading local timber merchant and importer has joined forces with Derby College Group to highlight career opportunities for Joinery students and address future skills gaps in the industry. 

Powerful Creative Project Focused On Saving The Planet

Music students from Derby College Group have performed alongside professional musicians from regional orchestra Sinfonia Viva after joining a creative project tackling the emotive subject of global warming.

Two local apprentices have secured their place in their national final of a new national competition for trainee hairdressers and barbers.
