Staff and students at Derby College have helped restore the memorial garden at The 3aaa County Ground, dedicated to loyal supporters of Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

They have revitalised the picturesque garden located on the boundary edge as part of the Employer Academy partnership between Derby College and Cricket Derbyshire, which provides work experience opportunities for Construction and Hospitality students and coaching for Sport students.

IT specialists RDS Global has joined Derby College's innovative Employer Academy programme to showcase the varied career opportunities available to students.

RDS Global, based in St James' Court, Derby, was established in 1997 and specialises in providing tailored network services, IT support, cloud, hardware and consultancy solutions for 4,000 users in 200 locations across the UK in a range of sectors including automotive retail, builders' merchants, care homes, hotel and hospitality and professional services.

Derby College has teamed up with Derby Museums to provide additional opportunities for Travel and Tourism and Creative Arts students based at the Roundhouse and the Joseph Wright Centre.

The Derby Museum Employer Academy joins more than 20 other partnerships with local and regional businesses and organisations with students applying to be part of a year-long programme including guest speakers, special projects, work placements and mentoring support.

Derby College is expanding the range of work experience and potential job and apprenticeship opportunities for Construction learners in partnership with even more local employers. The College is partnering Bell Group to launch an Employer Academy focusing on painting and decorating skills.

Derby College's Employer Academy programme, which has attracted widespread acclaim, has celebrated its first anniversary with a number of students progressing into jobs and apprenticeships.
