Derby College has teamed up with a national leader in security solutions to highlight to students the wide range of career opportunities available in the industry. Wilson James partners with with a wide range of clients across the UK and Europe including cultural heritage venues such as the Tate and the Science Museum Group, leading businesses, and airports.
Fifteen students on the Public and Security Services study programme, based at Broomfield Hall, will join the new Wilson James Security Academy in the New Year. Much of the work will focus on the growing area of airport security – based at airports in Wilson James' client portfolio around the UK.
As part of its commitment to improving security and protecting the lives of law enforcement and military operatives, SafeGuard Clothing recently struck a partnership with Derby College. The renowned body armour and safety equipment brand has donated a bullet proof vest for use in our Public Services course to enable students can to gain a better understanding of the working mechanics behind the design and structure.
Derby College has been provided with a sample bulletproof vest from SafeGuard CLOTHING – an international manufacturer and distributor of body armour.
The vest will be used by learners on the Uniformed Public Services course based at the Broomfield Hall campus as part of their course.
A former Derby College student has started his own company to bridge the gap in services provided for young people which have been in danger of being hit by local authority funding cuts, East Midlands Youth Service provides sub-contracted youth service provision as well as training and mentoring for professionals working with young people.
