Long-established family business Birds Bakery is looking to the future by training new apprentices in baking, logistics and maintenance.

Berkeley Inns, the rapidly expanding pub restaurant group, is working with Derby College Group (DCG) to upskill and develop its staff as the hospitality sector prepares to reopen on May 17.

Two Catering and Hospitality students at Derby College have celebrated finishing their study programme by completing a week's work experience in the kitchens of The Ritz London.

Holly Rawlinson (19) from Chellaston and Sophie Brassington (19) from Normanton were originally part of a group of level three students, based at the College's Engine Shed training kitchens at the Roundhouse, who spent the day seeing behind the scenes at the world renowned hotel five-star hotel in Piccadilly.
