Students and staff at Derby College's Joseph Wright Centre have raised a record £1,121 for three charities at their annual RAG week.
A wide range of competitions and activities were organised throughout the week and the money raised has been split between local charity Children First Derby, Cancer Research UK and Barnardo's.
Fifty students from Derby College’s Joseph Wright Centre will be heading to Germany later this month to gain an insight into the pioneering use of renewable energy sources. The trip has been organised by Nottingham-based SASIE Ltd, one of the UK’s leading renewable energy installation, engineering and training organisations as part of its Employer Academy initiative with the College to raise awareness of the expanding career opportunities in the industry.
Derby-born screenwriter Lucinda Coxon recently met with Derby College Creative Media students at the Joseph Wright Centre to talk about her career as an award-winning writer for film, television, and stage. Ms Coxon’s feature screenplays include the Oscar winning The Danish Girl, starring Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander, Wild Target, starring Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, and Rupert Grint; and The Heart of Me, starring Helena Bonham Carter, Olivia Williams, and Paul Bettany.
