After a tense week of uncertainty, Derby College Group A level student Sukhbir Singh (18) from Peartree in Derby has received official confirmation that he has secured a place at the University of Cambridge to study Engineering.

An A level student at Derby College Group’s Joseph Wright Centre has won a top award in a national science competition.

A level Geology students from Derby College Group's Joseph Wright Centre (JWC) have spent a week studying dormant volcanoes in Tenerife as part of their study programme.

The largest cohort of A level students for several years collected examination results at Derby College Group’s Joseph Wright Centre today (Thursday August 15.)

Derby College is celebrating an increase in the A-level pass rate and in the number of students achieving higher grades A* to B. A record 32% of A level students at the college's Joseph Wright Centre gained the higher grades and the overall pass rate was just over 97% - up 1% on last year. Points per entry has also increased to 29.5 compared with 27.5 last year.

Derby College is celebrating an increase in the number of students achieving higher grades (A* to B) in the first A level results published since the major curriculum re-structure.

A record 30% of A level students at the Joseph Wright sixth form centre gained the higher grades and the overall pass rate was just over 96%. Points per entry has also increased to 27.5 compared with 23.7 last year.

A Derby recruitment consultancy has grown his business with the appointment of a digital marketing apprentice – further strengthening its working links with Derby College. Sky Recruitment Solutions, based at Riverside Chambers in the Cathedral Quarter, has appointed Max Pitt (18) from Duffield through the College's apprenticeship recruitment and training programme.

Thousands of young people across Derbyshire are nervously waiting for their A level exam results which will be published on Thursday August 18.
