Councillor Jonathan Smale, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Streetpride, was one of the councillors who took part in the day’s work.
He said: “It was so encouraging to see so many people volunteering and supporting Streetprice in this important programme.
“These Deep Clean events show me just how much pride people feel about Derby, and I hope we can continue to work with our residents to inspire even more action all over the city.
Student Oliver Swindell, whose team worked on the flowerbeds in Osnabruck Square, “It’s so important to come out and do things like this in the city centre.
“It’s something to give back to the community, and it’s getting us all out here, meeting new people and making a difference. It’s definitely worth it.”
