Lecturer Juliett Coates explained: "As part of their study unit on issues around poverty, the students have been researching support available to local communities and were particularly struck by the work that is carried out by volunteers at Ilkeston Arena to support people in need.
"As a group we have collected five boxes of non-perishable food and two boxes of toiletries which we hope will support the initiative and help local families during the winter months."
Juliett Coates is pictured, right, delivering the donations to the food bank which is run on Tuesdays and Fridays between 12 noon and 2pm at Belfield Street.
