More than 125 students from five Colleges across the Midlands and East Anglia attended a training event focusing on water pollutants and wrote up a hypothetical case study.
Two teams from each college involved were then invited to present their reports and a group from Derby College came third in the competition. They were Katy Whitehead, Jack Smith, Philip Kirwin, Allouise Everett and Richard Allsopp who are all second year level three students.
Derby College Agriculture programme co-ordinator Mark Ekin said: “This was the first year that we have entered this prestigious competition and to be placed at our first attempt was a great achievement for the students.”
