During her time at College she won a College Peak Award and was highly commended in the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Outstanding Achievers Award. She also represented the College at various events to encourage more females into the industry and completed work experience in Germany as part of Derby College’s European work exchange programme.
She then worked for VW in Derby for nearly a year before being appointed as a Business Development Manager with Electude UK. The company is world's leading automotive e-learning provider and works with Colleges across the UK to equip them with the techniques, tools and training to support learners. Catherine said: “Derby College gave me the practical skills and teaching support I needed to progress in my career. I am therefore delighted to now have the opportunity to work with my former lecturers so that they can utilise Electude to support their students now and in the future. When I was studying at college, I struggled with the textbooks. It was only when I was introduced to Electude in my second year that everything changed for me. My understanding of the electrics and diagnostics side changed overnight and I was able to really grasp the inner workings of components. I thoroughly enjoy working for Electude. I work remotely from home but have also had the opportunity to work and train in the Netherlands and USA with the company.”
Derby College Motor Vehicle Team Manager Matthew Curtis added: “Cat was one of our outstanding students and we were delighted that she is now working with the College to support the development our e-learning programmes. She has embraced the opportunities open to her both when she was at College and now in her career and is a fantastic role model for male and female students in the Motor Vehicle department at the College. We look forward to working with her further in the future.”
