Who is this course for?
This apprenticeship entails a qualification in digital marketing: using online platforms and social media to design, build and implement campaigns to grow a business. It covers the principles of both coding and marketing and involves 20% off-the-job training.
You will complete Level 2 Functional Maths and English, plus an end-point assessment.
Entry Requirements
- Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English or GCSEs graded C/4 and above.
- Proven interest in digital marketing
- Contracted hours within a job role for digital marketing
What will you learn?
You will gain skills in:
- understanding and creating basic analytical dashboards using appropriate digital tools
- building and implementing digital campaigns across a variety of digital media platforms
- using digital tools effectively
- using digital analytics to measure and evaluate the success of digital marketing activities
You will also gain an understanding of:
- latest developments in digital media technologies and trends
- marketing briefs and plans
- company-defined ‘customer standards’ or industry good practice for marketing
- company, team or client approaches to continuous integration
There are two external vendor qualifications in the principles of coding and in marketing principles.
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered in the workplace and on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
You will need a laptop.
How will you be assessed?
You will be assigned an assessor/tutor to support you throughout the course. You will be assessed via:
- observations
- mock papers
- two modules which are externally assessed by BCS
- projects
- assignments
- attendance
- questions and answers
- professional discussions
Where next?
Completion of the apprenticeship would also allow you to join as an Affiliate and/or Associate member of BCS.
You could also consider Level 4 qualifications.

Will my apprentice need to come into college?
Yes – to complete Functional Skills if they are not exempt and to attend tutorials for digital marketing. There may be an option to do this via Microsoft Teams.
Is there any specialist equipment required?
The apprentice will need a laptop.
What progression can my apprentice expect after completion of their apprenticeship?
Completion of the apprenticeship would allow the apprentice to join as an Affiliate and/or Associate member of BCS.
They could also progress to a Level 4 qualification.
What job roles will this apprenticeship be suitable for?
They could progress within the organisation or take a higher level digital marketing course.
