Who is this course for?
Every year, approximately 1.8 million people receive mental health treatment. With this in mind, it is vital to support mental health care workers to be able to provide ethical, person-centred care to their patients, and in turn, protect their own physical and mental well-being.
This course will equip learners with a detailed understanding of mental health and mental health issues, the principles of the mental health care worker, approaches to care and management and the duty of care in adult health and social care, and change and support in relation to mental health.
This course is ideal for learners who wish to increase their awareness and understanding of mental health and the role of the mental health worker. Anyone who currently works in the health and social care sector
and wishes to progress their career would benefit from this course, as well as anyone who is looking to work in the sector.
The qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 or above.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but a good understanding of both written and spoken English, as well as knowledge of using IT equipment, will be useful.
What will you learn?
This course is split into five manageable units:
Unit 1: Mental health and mental health issues
Unit 2: Principles of the mental health care worker
Unit 3: Approaches to care and management in mental health
Unit 4: Duty of care in adult health and social care
Unit 5: Change and support in relation to mental health.
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered online.
What will you need to bring with you?
There are no additional costs but access to IT equipment and the Internet is required.
How will you be assessed?
You will complete workbooks using our online platform with 1:1 coach / tutor support.
You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence which is put together during the course and demonstrates that you have met the required assessment criteria. On completion, the portfolio of evidence is submitted in an online format.
