Start your creative fashion journey with our Learn to Knit course. It is aimed at those who would like to knit and are complete beginners.

You will find out about slow fashion and timeless, thoughtful, modern designs.  As Coco Channel said: “Fashion changes, but style endures.”

As you are supported to learn the traditional craft of knitting, you will find out about different types of wool and which ones are better for different projects.  You will be able to make items for yourself or your family.

There are no formal entry requirements.  All basic materials for the course are provided.  We provide needles and wool to start you off.

You will learn how to cast on and cast off.  You will find out how to create knit and purl stitches.  In addition, you will learn to master increasing and decreasing so that you can make a cardigan.

The course entails practical sessions, with demonstrations and support while you pick up these traditional skills.

No previous knowledge of knitting, wool or techniques is required.

There is no formal assessment; however, you will work towards targets connected with knitting techniques.

You could:

  • Learn regional traditional knitting techniques such as cabling
  • Learn to crochet
