Course Information for Students

This course is suitable for anyone who may be caring for someone who has dementia or anyone who would like to start a career in the care sector. It is delivered at our Ilkeston Adult and Community Campus.

There are no formal entry requirements.

You will gain an introductory understanding of:

  • The causes, symptoms and effects of different types of dementia
  • Relevant communication skills
  • Understanding behaviour in the context of dementia

 

You will attend classes, undertake a variety of tasks and activities, and produce a portfolio of evidence. 

There are no requirements other than standard stationery.

You will produce a portfolio of evidence. 

You can progress to the Level 2 Certificate in Dementia Awareness.
