Course Information for Students

Retail managers are responsible for delivering sales targets and a positive experience to customers that will encourage repeat custom and loyalty to the brand / business. It is a diverse role that includes leading and developing a team to achieve business objectives and working with a wide range of people, which requires excellent communication skills.

Maximising income and minimising wastage are essential to the job and therefore individuals must develop a sound understanding of business and people management principles to support the achievement of the vision and objectives of the business.

Retail managers champion the way for personal development, training and continuous improvement, encouraging their team to develop their own skills and abilities to enhance business performance and productivity.

You are required to be in a role suitable to undertake this qualification.

The apprenticeship will be delivered in the workplace 

You will need to have protective equipment to undertake your role legally and safely.

You will be assessed via assessment visits as you work towards understanding all knowledge and behaviours required to complete the end-point assessment. This involves a:

  • Two-hour written exam
  • Retail business project
  • Professional discussion – one-hour structured meeting.

You can progress to a Level 5 Management or Customer Service qualification.

The apprentice will work with an assessor, with 20% of the programme spent on off-the-job training as they work towards the knowledge and behaviours for completion of the end-point assessment. This will consist of a:

  • Two-hour written exam with a combination of short and extended answer questions
  • Retail business project
  • Professional discussion – one-hour structured meeting

The assessments will take place in the workplace. However, there may be a requirement to attend a different location to complete the end-point assessment.

You will need to provide your apprentice with any PPE required to legally and safely undertake their role.

The apprentice could progress to a Level 5 qualification or move into management or customer service.
