Validated by Highfield Awarding Body of Compliance (HABC), an OFQUAL regulated awarding organisation, this qualification is designed for those candidates wishing to become a paediatric first aider in the workplace, with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children.
Topics within this qualification meet the requirements for paediatric first aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014 as being important for maintaining safe and effective practice when providing treatment of injuries and ill health of infants and children who are under the care of trained personnel.

What will you learn?
The course covers the following subjects:
- First aid requirements
- Life saving procedures for an adult, child and baby
- Recognising the dangers in an emergency situation
- Summoning the emergency services
- CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)
- Top-to-toe survey
- The recovery position
- Recognising and responding to children’s life threatening illnesses
- Recognising and responding to types of children’s injuries
- Offering appropriate comfort and reassurance to an ill or injured child
- Identifying the planning and reporting procedure for children’s accidents and illnesses
- Contents of a first aid kit

Candidates will complete a workbook and practical demonstrations will be assessed continuously by the tutor throughout the course.
