Course Information for Students
Who is this course for?
The Diploma in Dental Nursing equips learners with knowledge and skills both in direct chairside work and in providing support in a range of dental treatments. You will learn about various aspects of dental nursing including:
•First aid essentials
•Providing chairside support to patients for a number of procedures
•Contributing to the production of dental images
You will learn on the job in the work environment. On successful completion of this qualification, you will be able to register with the GDC as a dental nurse.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, you should be employed as a dental nurse and should demonstrate that you have the potential and opportunity to gain the qualification successfully. You need to be aged at least 16.
What will you learn?
You’ll cover subjects such as:
• Emergency first aid
• Preparing and maintaining environments, instruments, and equipment for clinical dental procedures
• Providing chairside support to patients for a number of procedures
• Management of oral health diseases
How will you learn?
The apprenticeship will be delivered in the workplace and on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
£2,225, which can be financed by a student loan.
How will you be assessed?
Some assessment will take place in the workplace and will include a portfolio of evidence to meet the competence units in the qualification. There are also four knowledge units that are assessed by individual online tests. Observations are undertaken by an appointed assessor
