Who is this course for?
The programme is designed for anyone starting work in a care home environment who needs to achieve a qualification.
Entry Requirements
You need GCSEs graded 3.
You should be working in a care home environment – but we can help you to secure a role.
What will you learn?
Your assessor will support you and explain the different unit options. They could include topics such as:
- Safeguarding
- Wellbeing of the clients
- How to work professionally and how to remain a competent carer
- Dignity and respect
- Equality and diversity
- Medication
- Maths and English Level 2
How will you learn?
You will receive 1-1 support from your assessor and your practical learning will be within the working environment.
What will you need to bring with you?
You need a laptop.
How will you be assessed?
- Observation
- Underpinning questions
- Professional discussion
- Work products
- End Point Assessment
Where next?
You could progress to a Level 3 programme.

Is there any financial support available?
The course is free for apprentices but your employer will pay 5% of the funding to the College.

Are they any entry requirements for my apprentice?

What is required from the employer in the workplace?
- Support and training for the apprentice to complete 20% off-the-job training
- Time to study
- Completion and signing of reviews in a timely fashion
