This course is designed for people wishing to pursue a career in the health and fitness sector as gym-based fitness instructors. It is the first year of a two-year programme towards qualifying as a Level 3 Personal Trainer.
This qualification must be achieved before moving on to study a Level 3 Personal Training qualification.
Minimum entry requirements for this course are set at five GCSEs at grade 3 or better. There is the opportunity to resit both English and Maths should your GCSE profile support this.
Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended. The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential. Therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
There is a requirement for communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at Level 2
You should expect to be asked to lead sessions under supervision - individually and as part of a group - to external clients or other College students.
