It is designed for school and college leavers who have already achieved the Level 1 Motor Vehicle Maintenance qualification but who still need to achieve grade C in GCSE English and/or Maths.
Alongside the Motor Vehicle qualification, learners will further develop their skills in maths and English, which will support their main programme of study, help their future progression and enhance their life skills.
You must have previously completed and achieved a full Level 1 Motor Vehicle qualification but still need to achieve a grade 4 in either GCSE English or Maths.
Achieving the full Level 2 Diploma is possible through a top-up course from Week 32 if you are predicted to achieve 4 grades in both Maths and English during the June exams.
You will study:
Underpinning knowledge will be assessed via online external tests and assignments for all units. Practical activities are assessed in our centre using externally set criteria. Maths and English will be assessed through a final exam in both Functional Skills and GCSE.
You must provide your own steel toe-capped boots to be worn at all times in the workshops. A £40 fee will be required for College overalls, sweatshirts and T-shirts.
Subject to achieving the Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and the required Maths and English grades, there is the opportunity to achieve the full Level 2 Diploma (VRQ) through a top-up course from Week 32 to 37 if you are predicted to achieve C grades in both Maths and English during the June GCSE exams.
If you secure employment, you can also progress to the Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence (VCQ).
