The Level 1 Certificate in Performing Arts provides the knowledge, understanding and skills needed for learners to contribute to performing arts or musical activities. This qualification will give learners the flexibility to sample different creative areas, rather than specialise too early. It provides a platform for progression and enables the development of generic transferable skills.
You should present a short audition piece showreel of previous musical work at interview.
Students will study a variety of techniques including some music production and rehearsal skills, as well as essential industry skills. The course will culminate in a performance.
The course is assessed entirely through coursework projects.
Some nominal costs for equipment may apply, depending on the projects that students undertake.
Students who succesfully complete this course could progress to our Level 2 in Music or other programmes of study.
As well as teaching musical skills, this course develops broader 'soft' skills which are valued by a wide range of employers.
