Course Summary

This course aims to develop:

  • An understanding of the value of drawing as a tool for creative activity
  • A range of drawing skills appropriate to the support of creative activity
  • A critical and analytical approach to drawing activity
  • An awareness of the different contexts, approaches and disciplines of drawing within creative activity

Entry requirements

You should present some examples of previous drawing work at interview.

Course Content

You will complete four units, including one of the following:

  • Drawing and Measurement 
  • Drawing and Research

You will also complete three of the following:

  • Drawing Materials and Methods 
  • Drawing and Measurement 
  • Drawing and Light
  • Drawing and Writing
  • Drawing and Communication 
  • Drawing and Research
  • Drawing and Mapping
  • Drawing and Reproduction 
  • Drawings, Surfaces and Textures 
  • Drawing into 3 Dimensions

Your tutor will determine the choice of units at the start of your course.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed entirely through coursework projects.

Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required?

A small charge may be payable for specialist drawing equipment, depending on the projects undertaken.

What can I do after this course?

Further Study

On completion, students could progress to a full-time programme such as Level 2 or 3 Art and Design, Design and Innovation or one of our media courses.

Careers

The need for greater drawing skills in those entering employment has been identified by a range of industries in the creative sector including animation, film, architecture, art practice, design and communication.
