Course Summary

English skills are vital in all aspects of our life, whether it be at work, study or home.

These short qualifications are ideal for adults who lack confidence with reading, writing or speaking in groups. They will allow you to develop these skills in a safe, friendly and relaxed environment, working with other adults at the same level.

This course is also delivered at our Roundhouse and Ilkeston Campuses.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to access this course.

All applicants will be invited to an interview and assessment session. The assessment will give us an indication of your current level and learning needs. On completion, we will either offer you a place on the course or discuss your options.

Should this not be the most appropriate level for you, we offer a variety of English courses including Entry Level short awards, Functional Skills and GCSEs.

Course Content

During this course, you will:

  • Gain underpinning grammar, punctuation and spelling skills
  • Develop reading and writing skills

At the start of the course, you will be assessed to find out what you need to learn. You will then agree an individual learning plan appropriate to your situation and needs.
