This course is suitable for anyone who wants to work in the health and social care sector as well as existing practitioners who have not covered dementia care in previous training.
It will assist students to develop knowledge and understanding of the principles of caring for those with dementia and aims to develop the knowledge and skills required when providing positive care.
There are no entry requirements.
The course covers areas such as person-centred care, the influence of positive communication, issues relating to the use of medication for those with dementia and the importance of appropriate activities.
You will be assessed via a workbook.
You could also consider the Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.
This course does not qualify you to work in the sector, but does support you in working towards employment or aids your career development. Suitable career roles would be Healthcare Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant or Personal Assistant.
