Course Summary

This course is suitable for those who are wishing to change career or move into employment after a career break. It will give you the knowledge, understanding and skills you need to prepare for employment in the social care sector. If you are new to working in the sector, it will provide personal and career development opportunities.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. However, you will need to demonstrate an appropriate level of written English in order to complete the qualification.

  • Personal development
  • Role of the social care worker
  • Handling information
  • Health and safety
  • Safeguarding
  • Duty of care
  • Person-centred approach

How will I be assessed?

You will produce a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed by your tutor. The course is a combination of taught sessions and distance learning.

The class will run for 2 hours per week, every other week.
