Course Summary

This course is for individuals who would like to learn about grooming their own small to medium sized dog.

The course covers the procedures to follow for bathing and drying, clipping and styling your dog. It also covers introductory canine care for your dog.

 

Entry requirements

You should have a keen interest in dogs and be able to source a small to medium sized dog.

The dog must be groomed without significant matting.

All dogs must be fully vaccinated within the last 12 months.

Course Content

This course will cover:

  • Care and grooming of your dog
  • Bathing
  • Drying
  • Clipping
  • Styling

* We do not offer hand stripping on this course.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is by observation of your practical performance. A College Certificate of Attendance will be issued on successful completion of the course.

Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required?

You will be required to supply your own:

  • Closed-toe flat shoes
  • Sensible clothing e.g. trousers/jeans
  • Writing materials
  • A fully vaccinated dog to bring with you on the day
  • Lunch

The College runs a commercial salon and all grooming equipment within the salon is used on the course. Protective tabards/aprons can be worn when in the salon and they will be provided for your use on the day.
