Course Summary

This is a Level 5 Diploma which consists of two main pathways:

  • Children and Young People's pathway
  • Adult pathway

Entry requirements

You should have a good level of English and should be working in a management position to be able to achieve this qualification.

You may be responsible for running a facility that provides services for vulnerable children, adults or both. You might be an assistant or deputy manager, or a manager who has not yet achieved a recognised vocational qualification at this level.

Course Content

The Level 5 Diploma consists of two main pathways:

Children and Young People's Pathway

  • Children's and young people's residential management
  • Children's and young people's management
  • Children's and young people's advanced practice

Adult Pathway

  • Adults residential management
  • Adults management
  • Adults advanced practice

You will also study:

  • Using and developing systems that promote communication
  • Promoting professional development
  • Championing equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Developing health and safety and risk management policies, procedures and practices in health and social care or children's and young people's settings
  • Working in partnership in health and social care, and children's and young people's settings.

How will I be assessed?

Learners will be assessed mainly through a portfolio of evidence, which must be gathered in the learner's workplace. For knowledge-only units, learners will be assessed either in or out of the workplace.

Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required?

There is a £2,000 cost for the course or you should have a student loan in place before enrolment.
