Course Summary

This qualification develops your knowledge and skills in quality assurance of assessment, ensuring standards are maintained to a high level and students’ needs are met.  You will have the opportunity to develop and improve your practice and achieve a recognised professional qualification. 

The course will be delivered through 1-1 tutorials on a flexible basis to fit your needs.  Your assessor will visit you in the workplace every three to four weeks and provide advice, guidance and support to enable you to achieve this qualification.

Entry requirements

You need evidence of:

  • A relevant Assessor qualification
  • A qualification at an appropriate level and relevant up-to-date experience in your vocational/subject-specialism
  • Being in a position to follow your organisation’s policies and procedures
  • Access to at least two assessors who are assessing work-based learners
  • Access to a qualified internal verifier to help support you in the internal verification process

Course Content

The qualification is made up of two units: 

  • Unit 1 - Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment (Theory)
  • Unit 2 – Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment (Practical)

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed via a portfolio of evidence to prove competency and good practice in internal verification. You will have the opportunity of building an electronic portfolio using OneFile.

Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required?

No specialist equipment is required.

What can I do after this course?

You can implement what you have learned in the workplace and improve practices. You can also progress to:

  • A Level 3 Award or Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, if your role involves delivery alongside assessing and verifying
  • A Train the Trainer course
  • A Coaching course
  • An Advanced Apprenticeship – Assessor-Coach (Level 4)
