Improve Your Riding is designed for those who wish to improve their understanding of horses and their ability to ride. This is a four-week bolt-on course which is tailor-made around participants' needs.
Students must be 14 years of age and over. You should be able to walk, trot and confidently canter. You should also be able to ride comfortably without stirrups. Please email Nicola Lambert (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions.
In order to ensure the welfare of our horses, we operate a personal weight restriction of no more than 13 stone. All riders will be weighed in their riding attire prior to the start of the course.
Riders learn how to correctly exercise a horse in walk, trot and canter, and to assess and improve its way of going, including around the arena. You will also jump small fences and work over grid. There is a lot of focus on the riding position and rider balance.
We have a great range of horses at College, but - as welfare is paramount - you will only be mounted on horses which suit your height and weight. This could narrow down the selection of horses we can offer you.
There will be no formal assessment, although you will receive verbal feedback during and at the end of each lesson and will be set targets for improvement.
You will be required to supply your own:
Please do not wear necklaces and earrings.
