If you own a woodland, work in one or simply enjoy woodlands, this course will show you the correct management techniques to use.
You will learn how to improve this vital habitat for the plants and animals that make it their home. You will also explore both theory and practical tasks to ensure your woodland remains sustainable and high in biodiversity.
This is mainly a practical course. No formal qualifications are needed.
The course will cover:
The history of British woodlands
Native and non-native definitions with examples
Basic woodland management plans
Habitats within a woodland
Practical felling on small coppice
Health and safety in woodlands
How will I be assessed?
There is no formal assessment. However, feedback will be given throughout the day.
Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required?
You will be required to supply your own:
Steel toe-capped boots/wellingtons
