Course Summary

Get hands on with our resident hedgehogs. In this mini practical experience you will learn the importance of hedgehogs.  We will look at hedgehog ecology, conservation, field signs and how to encourage these creatures to live in your garden.

There will be a two-hour classroom session on hedgehog habitat, conservation and ecology before you accompany our Level 2 students to release the hedgehogs which they have been looking after over the winter months. Please note there could be possible media coverage of this event.

This course is suitable for ages 14 and over.

 

Entry requirements

You just need to have an interest in hedgehogs.

Course Content

This experience consists of an informative theory session followed by an actual hedgehog release.

How will I be assessed?

There is no formal assessment. However, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required?

You need:

  • Sturdy flat footwear
  • Suitable clothing e.g. jeans/trousers with no dangling drawstrings
  • To tie back long hair
  • To avoid wearing jewellery or nail varnish
  • Writing materials
  • Refreshments

Children should be accompanied by an adult.
