This apprenticeship is a combined knowledge and competency based qualification, ideal for new team leaders who want to develop themselves as leaders and managers. It provides apprentices with the opportunity to learn and implement the core skills needed in today’s dynamic business environment.
GCSE grades A-D in English and Maths or the equivalent are desirable.
You will be required to attend an interview before enrolling on this course.
In addition to good literacy and numeracy skills, you will need to be well motivated and self disciplined.
You must be willing to use and maintain an e-portfolio of evidence.
The units in this qualification focus on the essential skills learners need to develop as team leaders. There are five mandatory units, looking at the principles of team leading and management, workplace communication, understanding business and personal development.
Plus there is a wide selection of optional units to build management skills in a variety of areas such as customer service, health and safety and performance management.
The apprenticeship also includes:
Functional Skills at Level 1 in Mathematics, English and ICT (if applicable)
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (embedded within the qualification)
Employment Rights and Responsibilities (delivery method to be agreed with your assessor - it could be embedded within your main qualification or may be an additional unit.)
For the vocational element of your apprenticeship, you will be assessed on the job, using a range of methods including the production of evidence such as case histories, work products, questions, witness testimonies, professional discussion and observations. These will be uploaded into an electronic portfolio.
You may need to attend the College on a day release/block release basis in order to achieve your Functional Skills. This will be evidenced through the completion of end tests in each subject.
You could consider further study with an Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration or Management or continue advancing your career within supervisory and management roles.
