Course Summary

The main purpose of a retailer is to assist customers when they purchase products and services, which requires a good understanding of the stock being sold and the variety of ways customers can shop as well as the ability to process payments, for example using a till.  Retailers must be passionate about delivering a quality service that always aims to exceed customers' expectations. 

Entry requirements

You should be working in an operational role within the industry to start on this apprenticeship standard.

You should have Maths and English GCSE graded A-D or relevant industry experience.

Course Content

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed throughout your programme via observations, witness testimonies, work products and questioning.

At end point assessment, you will be required to complete:

  • A 30-minute on-demand multiple choice test
  • A two-hour observation of your knowledge, skills and behaviours
  • A one-hour structured meeting led by the independent end point assessor, involving you and your employer.

Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required?

You will be provided with any Personal Protective Equipment required to legally and safely undertake your role.

What can I do after this course?

You can progress to a further apprenticeship programme such as Retail Team Leader Level 3.
