The Apprenticeship in Fitness Instruction (Level 3) is designed for people who already work in the health and fitness industry and who wish to continue their professional development. It is also ideal for those who wish to work in the sector as a personal trainer and fitness advisor.
Your apprenticeship framework will be designed around your prior achievements and working requirements. Your standards of English and maths should be suitable for study at this level so ideally you will have a GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths at grade C or above.
Good communication skills are essential.
You will also need to have achieved a Level 2 Gym Instructors qualification prior to commencing the Level 3 apprenticeship.
The framework will be focussed on delivering and managing exercise and fitness instruction in a sports and active leisure setting.
Assessments will take place through vocational competence, the development of a portfolio of evidence and assessment for the technical qualifications associated with the pathway. English and maths will be assessed through a controlled assessment or exam.
You may be invited into College to study the Level 3 Personal Training content on one evening per week or on day release.
There are no additional costs involved with this course.
You can advance your career within the active leisure industry as a gym instructor, team leader or health club manager.
