Course Summary

This programme of study is aimed at employed apprentices who have completed their Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating.  It consists of a Level 3 NVQ and Diploma.

It supports those who wish to progress beyond the basic principles and to become adept with additional, more intricate, techniques.  

Entry requirements

You must have completed the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship and be in employment. 

You must also hold either GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.

Course Content

The course covers some of the following modules:

  • Health and Safety
  • Supervision
  • Estimating
  • Application of Paints and Papers
  • Spraying
  • Application of Coving

If you do not hold GCSE English and/or Maths, you will be supported in achieving them to help you become more employable.

How will I be assessed?

Assessments will take place both in College and in the workplace through exams and collection of evidence.

You will be allocated an assessor who will visit you in the workplace to undertake observations and discuss your progress with your employer.

Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required?

Apprentices must have their own Personal Protective Equipment which should be supplied by their employer.

What can I do after this course?

You can progress to a Foundation Degree in Construction or develop your career in roles such as site manager.
