The Prince’s Trust has teamed up with Derby College to help change young lives. Almost anyone aged 16 to 25 can join this pioneering personal development programme: it’s all about giving you a better chance to move into a job, education or training and improving your long-term career prospects.
In 12 weeks, you‘ll gain work experience and qualifications alike. You’ll improve your existing skills and develop new ones through working on worthwhile community projects. You’ll have help with job-hunting and writing your CV too. But, most of all, the experience will bring a big boost to your confidence and a real sense of achievement.
The programme is informal and stimulating. You’ll work in a team of up to 16 young people of different ages, backgrounds, circumstances and abilities. So it’s a superb opportunity to make friends and have fun while learning.
There are no entry qualifications. You just need to be aged between 16 and 25 and to be ready to make positive changes in your current situation. You’ll also undertake an interview before the start of the course.
There are four key stages in the programme:
Monday 2nd May 2016 – Pimlico in Ilkeston
Monday 9th May 2016 – Johnson Building in Derby
If you’re ready to make a positive change in your life, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to take up the Prince’s Trust challenge on your doorstep. We have various teams running throughout the year in locations including Ilkeston and Derby.
There are no additional costs or equipment: any bus fares will be reimbursed every day and all Personal Protective Equipment and other resources will be provided for you as necessary.

Chloe Billups joined the Prince’s Trust Team Programme in Chesterfield to increase her chances of finding work and to build up her confidence.
She travelled from Alfreton to Chesterfield every day, achieving 100% attendance. She now works on temporary contracts at Thorntons where she regularly supervises a line within the factory.
Programme managers were so impressed with her commitment and positive attitude that they presented her with the highly commended prize at our 2014 Peak Awards.
