It’s all about bolstering your confidence and giving you a new direction. You will find your time studying with Derby College’s LLDD Academy enables you to make more informed choices, speak up for yourself and discover a new sense of control over your life.
As well as improving your abilities in crucial areas such as English and maths, you will enhance your personal and social skills. This includes learning experiences which will serve you well in the future, such as going shopping for food, using public transport and managing money. Our Pathway to Working Life courses also give you an insight into a range of occupations, from retail to horticulture, construction to hospitality. You might take part in work placements, voluntary work in the community or enterprise activities to develop products and services. Whatever you choose, it’s a fun and productive way to learn.

You need English and maths skills to get on in life. They will support your studies at the College, help with everyday tasks and pave the way to future career success.
If you don’t already have a grade C or above in GCSE English and Maths – or equivalent qualifications – you will continue studying these subjects as part of your course at Derby College.
